'Unruly Studies' transitions from the School of Reparar Programme to nestle within our Fazer Comum.

It remains an unfolding activity but this time in "relation with". Thus, it is an activity curated by AND Lab but guided by an external proponent, to whom an invitation is sent because we recognize their potential to expand these studies, both for our nourishment, as a team-collective, and yours, as a public-network.

---------

Maria Ramos is invited to join AND Lab for an artistic residency, continuing her

ongoing choreographic research conducted as part of her Specialist Title at the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon, entitled Choreography as Landscape-in- Action: from the relationship with space as a dancer to the construction of space as a choreographer. The research began with the solo 7pm/Rumour, in which movement was explored as a way of ‘sculpting’ the performance space.

During the residency, Maria Ramos will deepen choreographic practice as a field of artistic inquiry, building on questions already present in her work. Drawing on the text presented during her Specialist Title defense, she will experiment with a micro-lecture-performance format as a methodological tool.

The residency becomes a concentrated space-time for experimentation, where practice and research inform one another, continuing the choreographic investigation while exploring ways of sharing her dance research.

At the end of the Artistic Residency, Maria Ramos opens the process to a Public Sharing, for anyone who wants to join.

---------

Maria Ramos develops her choreographic practice as a field of investigation,

building on her experience as a dancer in productions at Tanzhaus Düsseldorf,

Arnolfini Bristol, CCA Glasgow, and international festivals. Her choreographic

work includes the pieces 7pm/Rumour, Something Still, and Árida (DGArtes,

FCG, CCB, Festival DDD, among others). She holds a degree in Dance and a

Master’s in Choreography from ArtEZ University of the Arts. She is a visiting

lecturer at Escola Superior de Dança (2017) and ESAD.CR (2016), and directs

the Choreographic Laboratory at Forum Dança (2015).

Fazer Comum is a programme focused on the occupation of AND Lab space, whose main objective is to contribute to the diversity of Lisbon's artistic and cultural offerings, providing space for work, dialogue, encounter, research, and sharing of practices close to AND Lab. Focusing on research-creation practices, central to AND Lab’s activity, this programme proposes to welcome and foster other practices and artists in whose artistic work creation emerges not as an "object," but as a research process using their own tools.

Fazer Comum, across its various programming axes, unfolds into:

Hosting: Regular Practices | Occasional or Periodic Meetings | Residencies and Rehearsalls;

Unruly Studies (curated by AND Lab): Research-creation residencies | Research-laboratory transmission residencies;

AND Lab em Festa (curated and shared by AND Lab).

The Unruly Studies (curated by AND Lab) are divided into Research-Creation Residencies and Research-Laboratory Transmission Residencies. They are an invitation, in residency format, to host artistic practices that durationally inhabit the AND Lab Space and are permeated by AND’s practices, in a flow of exchange and reciprocity. Based on the statement "how to enhance artistic research-creation as a place for the production/transmission of knowledge?", we thus created two formats for these shared studies:

Unruly Studies | Research-Creation Residencies

Untamed Studies | Research-Creation Residencies

The space is opened, by invitation, to artists so that they can immerse themselves in and organize their knowledge, seeking to create conditions for the unfolding and systematization of the tools of the practice in question, with the residency opening up at the end of this period to a final public sharing, in a format to be defined.

Unruly Studies| Research-Transmission Residencies

Programme of  participatory laboratories of practical studies of artistic creation tools and relational mediation, open to the public through registration. Each laboratory is preceded by a research residency period for the development or adaptation of the situated laboratory proposal.

Within the scope of reciprocity that we intend to implement, we hope that the people and practices invited to these Unruly Studies can engage in dialogue with the AND Lab, its practices and team, in order to foster mutual enrichment, enhancing conversation, while also respecting the just time for research and creation.
