Re-membering the Future is a tool to address the waste produced by human nature-culture and the climate change crisis with young audiences. Through a playful device that takes the form of a game, it offers:

  • Information on the environmental imbalances and social injustices arising from the use and consumption of objects made from plastic, metal, paper and fabric; how they are extracted and obtained; the processes of producing and manufacturing everyday items from these four types of materials; and, finally, how their waste is disposed of and eliminated.
  • Encouraging creative reflection on how we can transform our relationship with these materials, reorienting their uses and our habits in order to reduce human impact on the planet.

The game encourages creative reflection on how we can transform our relationship with these materials, reorienting how we use them and our habits to reduce human impact on the planet.

Through this play, the game promotes awareness and imagination through the double exercise of remembering and re-membering. It not only stimulates the imagination, but allows young people to gain familiarity with real ecological problems and to exercise critical thinking and creativity about what could be done to mitigate them in the future.
