Occupations in the Space

Coordination of Luís Filipe Fernandes

Since 2024

As a programme dedicated to the occupation of the AND Space, it positions itself as a meeting place for sustained actions over time, accommodating a range of intersections between disciplines and practices, both its own and those of others, thereby contributing to a tactic of gathering, engagement and the mixing of forces in the composition of a gesture at once singular and multiple: the practice of commoning.

Providing space for work, dialogue, encounter, research and the sharing of practices close to AND Lab, it enables less evident artistic proposals that provoke thought and activate sensitive dimensions threaded through care, using care as a tool for attending to relations between, and with, beings and the world.

The 'Making Common'' Programme, in its distinct programming strands, unfolds into:

1. Residencies/Occupations in the Space

- Regular practices | One-off or periodic meetings | Residencies and rehearsals

2. Unruly Studies (AND Lab curation)

- Research-creation residencies | Research–laboratory transmission residencies

3. AND Lab in Celebration (curation and sharing by AND Lab)

OCCUPATIONS AT AND LAB SPACE

The local artistic community, cultural agents and the public in general are invited to mobilize together in the making (of) common, spreading it from the most immediate surroundings and researching, through frequentation, ways to infiltrate and sustain community modes of coexistence in urban everyday life, combining (self)care, sharing artistic activities and responsible co-participation in the collective plan.
