A presentation of Modus Operandi AND and AND Summer School (through images of edition#1, July 2016)
The MODUS OPERANDI AND (MO_AND) is a system of improvisation and com-position, of transversal use, created by the anthropologist and artist Fernanda Eugenio. The MO_AND offers a series of instruments for the practiced study of politics of togetherness and the ability of self-observation in the act, as well as the consequent and situated decision-making process. Based on the sensibility for and training of an ethics of sufficiency as condition-disposition of oneself for entering into relation with the milieu, it allows the emergence and sustainability of metastable common events.
The AND SUMMER SCHOOL happens annually in Lisbon, installing, at each edition, a temporary zone of attention and of experiential and collective investigation having a transversal question at its core. Over a period of two weeks, with a workload of 100 hours, we propose an immersive time-space for the exchange of procedures for collective improvisation-creation and co-positioning the common, having Modus Operandi AND as driving and mediating tool. Through durational experimentation with oneself and others and exercises of reciprocity between caring for of oneself and taking care of the milieu, we seek to produce attention to the processes and consequences of what (and how) we do and that does us in return: gestures, words, habits, perspectives, postures, modulations. The Summer School is a opportunity of encounter for all
that are interested in the re-materialization of crystallized knowledge by way of inventive and sufficient knowledge(s); for all those interested in the investigation of politics of togetherness and an ethics of sufficiency in learning-by-doing, starting from whatever place.
