PRESENTATION

School of Reparar Ed#3-2022

Between April and December, in Portugal and Brazil, in both in-person and online formats, the 2022 School of Reparar will cover four programs.

We will begin with hANDling, a program dedicated to offering and handling – (re)incorporating through continuous use – the tools available at the AND Lab: the Modus Operandi AND and the body and care practices of the AND Collective (April to July).

Next, in the stANDing program, we will share the new tools that are emerging from our ongoing research-creations, in workshops dedicated to the three guidelines of the AND Lab: AND Soma, AND Terra, and AND Cuidado (September).

Then, sufficiently pre-parades, we will delve more directly into the year's theme, in two programs: in the Untamed Studies (October) we will approach, in a study group setting, the concept-tools of re-membering, amparo, and enchantment;

And at LANDscape (November), we will immerse ourselves in an intensive retreat course entirely dedicated to (un)folding them experientially and in direct contact with the earth – in the territory-body and in the body-territory.

The School of Reparar 2022 will also offer, in parallel, the possibility for the public to engage with the Modus Operandi AND through the three-episode web series Survival Manual for Irreparable Times, which will be launched in April, along with our opening public meeting.

We will end the year with a review meeting open to all, at the beginning of December.

[under]stANDing

Research-Creation with MO_AND
Creative Residency Module

The [under]stANDing interface line forms a continuous plan of research and creation with the Modus Operandi AND, in which the methodology folds in on itself, based on a theme-question each year, thus remaining as a living organism in constant (re)formulation. The name [under]stANDing points to a way of investigating-creating that deviates from interpretation and representation, committing itself to direct experience, the sustaining of not-knowing, and attunement to embodied wisdom, beyond the human illusion of perspective.

hANDling

MO_AND Training
Introduction & Unfolding Module

The hANDling interface line focuses on the (trans)formative and sharing dimension of MO_AND as a tool for mediation and composition. It offers intensive and extensive workshops on the transmission and practice of the constellation of games and concept tools of the Modus Operandi AND. The name hANDling evokes the semantics of the verb 'to handle' to signal a double commitment: on the one hand, to the ethics of handling, as opposed to manipulation, which guides the Modus Operandi AND; on the other, with the delivery/offering of our tools, creating situations of transmission-sharing that favour their incorporation through frequent use, practice and the cultivation of the autonomy and uniqueness of each practitioner.

LANDscape

Ritual Journey with MO_AND
Deepening/Immersive Experience Module

The LANDscape interface line focuses on the dimension of individual and collective (self)repair through the creation of ritual experiences in retreat mode. A landscape programme constructed in the form of a ritual journey of trans-formation, in which Modus Operandi AND multiplies into a set of more complex somatic and political-affective propositions, LANDscape summons different modulations of the AND constellation game, alongside ritual pieces specially created each time to facilitate the sensitive and experiential experience of the theme-question.

THEME-QUESTION

'Amparo' and Enchantment: Re-membrance and Discontinuation of the Irreparable

We are tired and confused. A pact with helplessness, as involuntary as it is inescapable, has drained our abilities to co-feel - to fully inhabit inter- and intra-connectivity as an inexhaustible network of reciprocal care and sustenance.

We are dazed and sad. Navigating the frequency band of disenchantment, we chant the lack in a bottomless-hole-chest. We keep going, too stunned to recognize and honor what we already have and what we keep receiving. Too stunned, too, to dream of retribution, vital overcomings and revitalizing inventions.

In this third edition of the Escola do Reparar, the proposal is to research, in the flesh and with the forces that circulate within it, ways to re-access the sensitivity of support and charm - two modulations of the sensitive experience of inseparability that, we bet, vibrate the power of other life cures, in tune with a more-than-human, infinitesimal and cosmic common.

The support vibrates while resting: it is and happens where we return to where we already are, we land. And, because we access the state of landing, we also rest, we rest. It is that frequency range in which we experience sustenance and gift - the support of the Common Fund of Life, in which we co-participate as a particle made and maker of other particles. We are, at the same time, part and whole. We feel life as an unavoidable and unlimited crossing, in its abundance of infra and transpersonal manifestations, extending beyond and below us.

Support is, therefore, learning to receive.

The enchantment, in turn, vibrates as I re-fly. It shines where we take off from the mechanisms of identification and understanding, and, therefore, we also take off. We stop getting confused, we experience, even if only briefly, re-merging: re-tuning to the frequency band in which we know ourselves to be an amalgam, we know ourselves to be accomplices in the mystery and can sustain it without rushing or wishing for unveiling or pacification . The frequency range in which we fully appropriate the consequences of being part-whole: of being viscerally involved, in everything that exists and in everything that occurs.

Enchantment is, therefore, learning to give back.

Continuing the research into re-membrance as a gesture of breaking with the Irreparable, the School of Repair 2022 invites you to an experiential and experimental journey through the different felt modulations of the Irreparable - whether as damage and structural looting, which must be radically unaccepted and discontinued; whether as a non-graspable, unknown and unknowable dimension, which appears alongside each event, and which carries airs and molecules from other possible worlds. Holds antidotes.

In order to research ways to rediscover the embodied and felt experiences of support and enchantment, we propose to go through three phases of the re-membering process at length: manifestation, access and re-knowledge. And learn its three repair tactics: involution, (dis)integration and renunciation.

Following this path, we operate re-membrance, both as remembrance - a re-aggregation in the present of ancestral and future space-times - and as remembrance - a return to uniting what the (post)modern split insists on separating, fragmenting and disconnecting - and thus also alienate and anesthetize.

We propose a continuous program, which will take place throughout the year so that, together, we can (un)fold these issues, believing that attuning to the inseparability at the level of Soma and Earth is essential to provide support for a consistent political position of discontinuation of the logics of debt and doubt that, consecutively, have been corrupting our relationship with the gift and reiterating the usurpatory logics of a hegemonic and structural Irreparable.
